Aartech’s offerings to the Information Technology Sector

– Information Technology

Thanks for your interest in Aartech’s offerings to the IT sector. Whether you are an IT professional, an equipment manufacturer, consultant, EPC contractor, project planner, system integrator or research / design / operation / maintenance / testing / commissioning engineer, we hope that you find our solutions of interest and look forward to hear from you.

The IT sector has revolutionised the way information is generated, communicated and used in many ways. The data explosion is generating unprecedented demands on IT infrastructure and its signs on the energy needs are getting obvious. With a high premium on the uptime of the services, IT sector has emerged as one of the most mission critical and technically challenging prospects and demand very high set of performance benchmarks.

Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)

Sensitive Electrical Loads require superior power quality. Conventional UPS are characterized by high Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) when factors such as efficiency loss, battery replacements and indoor installations are taken into account. Also the increasing element of criticality and interdependence demand full facility protection rather than limited protection of sensitive loads.

An offline UPS that can meet the desired power quality benchmarks and provide for enough backup to support the operations till backup DG sets come into service can have a direct impact on all the above factors and offer a much more attractive TCO. Further, an offline UPS can actually be integrated at the Medium Voltage (MV) level and provide for full facility protection of critical installations.

The Data Center industry has one of the best applications for this technology. In the Data Center environment, the ever-increasing demand for high-speed global Internet services, along with the increasing density of servers and other components have resulted in a re-examination of basic data center design. Now—more than ever—controlling energy consumption and improving efficiency have become key financial and environmental objectives for the data center. The air conditioners and chillers required to maintain optimum temperature within the data center are, themselves, now considered critical loads. And some process equipment and business services outside the data center may be designated critical loads as well. The traditional approach to data center power protection—distributed low-voltage, low-power UPSs—can still be used for these additional critical loads. But this approach is expensive, not only in initial equipment and electrical infrastructure costs but in lower efficiencies, added floor space requirements, and increased maintenance costs.

Conventional UPSs are not the best overall power protection solution for larger data centres. Furthermore, adding UPS protection to critical air-conditioning systems isn’t possible with most double-conversion UPS designs. The inrush current of large pump motors and chillers presents too great a load for these UPSs.

Aartech is associated as a value added system reseller with M/s S&C USA for their PureWave UPS , a proven power quality product with a large and successful installation base worldwide.

S&C’s PureWave UPS System protects power-sensitive equipment from the detrimental effects of disturbances such as voltage sags, surges, transients, momentary disruptions, and complete outages. This unique Smart Grid solution supports the entire load with clean power for up to 60 seconds, eliminating 99% of all power quality problems. It supports reduced loads for up to 180 seconds. A high-efficiency static switch provides immediate — 2- to 4-millisecond — response. Also on offer is an extended run-time version of the UPS, the PureWave UPS-XT.  This product provides S&C’s field-proven UPS technology applied to projects that require battery run-times in excess of one minute.

The large-scale, medium-voltage PureWave UPS System is ideal for meeting Tier III and Tier IV electrical requirements as well as Class A and Class B cooling requirements. PureWave UPS Systems also meet the guidelines of Level III – the next generation standards of The Green Grid’s Data Center Maturity Model. The Series Redundancy approach used in PureWave UPS installations is recommended by The Uptime Institute.
